Can't join a server?

Start with these checks. Stop when the cause is identified, then retry joining before changing anything else.

  1. 1. Confirm the edition

Does the server support the edition you are running?

Ask the operator whether it accepts Java, Bedrock, or explicitly configured crossplay. Do not assume that a server address works for both editions.

  2. 2. Match the supported version

Is your game release supported by the server?

Compare the game version shown in your client with the operator’s supported version. Follow their instructions for snapshots, previews, or required mods; do not update blindly.

  3. 3. Check the address

Are you using the address and port supplied by the operator?

Copy them from the official server instructions. If they match and joining still fails, ask whether the server is online and whether access is restricted.

  4. 4. Check account access

Does your platform/account meet its multiplayer requirements?

Review the official account requirements below. If the platform reports an account restriction, resolve that specific restriction rather than changing your router settings.

Still stuck?

Send the operator your edition, exact client version, platform, error text, and the time of the failed attempt. Keep passwords, access tokens, and private account details out of screenshots.
